Who likes quick bread, pancakes, and biscuits? Me too! The easiest way to make them is by using self-rising flour, a premade mix of a rising agent, salt, and flour. You can buy it at the store but it is just as easy to make self-rising flour yourself.
Self Rising Flour is a pantry staple and on the farm when you run out it’s a 14-mile drive into town for more. We always have the essential components to make self-rising flour on hand so it is easy to make a batch. Then, having some pre-made saves me time when throwing together our Easiest Pancake Recipe on busy mornings!
I first did this years ago; now, it’s a regular thing. I use the recipe from King Arthur Flour but of course, I make it in larger quantities and store it in a large air-tight container. I have attached for you below, a printable version to make 6 cups or 12 cups of the recipe.
Making Self-Rising Flour saves you money over store bought and it’s so easy. It’s just 3 ingredients – flour, baking powder, and salt. If you purchase some of those ingredients in bulk, it costs even less. The best part? You make what you need, as you need it, which means less waste.
A wonderful way to use your Homemade Self Rising Flour is in this Easiest Pancake Recipe EVER that my kids use at least once a week.
